The jury of our peers…

…has been kind enough to nominate us as a finalist in the Public Service category over at the Podcast Peers awards! Now we think there are some other great shows there as well, but if you are a podcaster who likes what we’re doing we’d appreciate a vote (and other than here and on the forums at Podcast Pickle we’re not going to mention it anywhere else…)
See you all for our next show, to be released soon!

We’re on the list!

No, this isn’t a Heroes reference–apparently someone was nice enough to add Upon Further Review to the 2000 bloggers list over at Tino Buntic’s site, and we’re not entirely sure whether to be flattered by the inclusion or amused at the rather blatant Technorati link building this project is trying to develop–particularly since we’re a review show, not a blog. But we do write things here sometimes, and besides, far be it from us to look down on increased traffic! Moreover, some of these bloggers are interesting reads, so head over and check it out. You might even find yourself there…

We hope you Digg it!

Okay, so we’ll admit we’ve never been huge fans of the “democratic” news site Digg (for lots of different reasons), but they have recently started a new podcasting section which could (theoretically) be kind of cool. A few people have already been kind enough to Digg us over there, and if you’re so inclined (and have or are interested in a Digg account) we would certainly appreciate a Digg from you as well. The link is here:

We’ll have Episode 29 out shortly.

Happy New Year to all!

Weeeeeeeeeee are the champions, my friennnnddddddssssssssss……..

Well, as announced on our last show, your friendly neighborhood reviewers made it to the championship game of the Celebrity Podcaster Fantasy Football League…and while we don’t like to gloat, well, we basically took it to the house. That’s right–we won the championship, and the trophy will be residing right here at Upon Further Review for the next year (we’ll do what we can to keep it nice and shiny for our title defense). In all seriousness, we’re grateful to Steve from the Extra Points Fantasy Football Podcast and Wicked Good Podcast fame for inviting us to the league, and we had a great time with everyone there (and if you’d like to know more, we will be guest starring on Extra Points next week, so head over to check it out). Our rating of the league–and our victory–a 10/10 (cue touchdown celebration dance). We’ll have our new holiday show out for you all tomorrow, but in the meantime, we present the following graphic for any possible skeptics out there…

Browsers, buttons, and you…

Hi all,
We’ve heard from a couple of listeners that our website looks a little strange when viewed in Internet Explorer 6.0 (specifically that a couple of the buttons on the sidebar look like little red Xs…)–and while we’re aware of the issue, there is unfortunately little we can do to fix it. IE 6.0 is in fact the ONLY browser in which UFR doesn’t look optimal–we’ve tried it on Netscape, Mozilla, Firefox, Opera–even Internet Explorer 7.0 works fine. Research has demonstrated that apparently IE 6.0 doesn’t play nice with a lot of websites…which has led to some people actually designing an entirely new website just for IE. As much as we love you all, we simply don’t have the time (or bandwidth :) ) to create a whole new page just because Microsoft doesn’t know how to make its browsers compatible. Our suggestion is to use Firefox, which if you haven’t already tried it is an exceptional browser–far faster and more full featured than IE (and with a better pop-up blocker, by the way). But if you want to stick with IE, upgrading to 7.0 will give you a better experience in browsing generally, and will allow you to see our website in all its multicolored glory. In the meantime, we apologize for the inconvenience–and if it’s Bill Gates who happens to be reading this message, well, Bill, you’ve been put on notice. Unless you want to be the target of our first ever 1 out of 10 review, get your darn browsers compatible! Please?

The reviews just keep on coming…

We just wanted to take a moment to thank Bernadette (a long time listener) for her thoughtful review of Upon Further Review at Podcast Fanatic, where she has become a regular podcast review columnist–we’ll take her suggestions under advisement, and we appreciate the feedback. Speaking of feedback: one of Bernadette’s comments is that our “comments” sections are underutilized…and we’re looking at all of YOU, dear listeners! :) Seriously, we understand that everyone’s busy, and the most important thing to us is that you’re listening to and being entertained and educated by our show…but please drop us a line or a comment when you can, since (as you know) we always appreciate and welcome thoughtful opinions. She also suggests that we implement an additional method of organization for our reviews, and we wanted to remind everyone that you can find such a method at our Reviewed Items page, where every item we’ve reviewed on the show is listed by category (along with the episode where you can find the review). Hopefully this will address some of Bernadette’s suggestions–and our thanks again for making them!

P.S. We don’t want to forget to thank all those who have left positive reviews for us on iTunes…thanks so much, and more such reviews from other listeners would be very much appreciated if you’re inclined to leave them!

So we saw this great show, and…

Just when you think the Internet can’t get any cooler, a site like this comes along–and allows us to do this:

Sold out!

Truly, what else is left for mankind to accomplish?

Upon Further Review gets…uh…reviewed!

Given what we do here at Upon Further Review, turnabout seems only fair play. Fortunately, the experience of being reviewed wasn’t at all painful–Tim Byatt at Podcast Reviewshas just putup a very positiveevaluation of us, and we areboth grateful andhumbled for the kind words (particularly since Tim calls it as he sees it, behavior which we can certainly identify with)! Head over and check it out–quite apart from our own review, his page isan honest and thorough review ofpodcasts. While there, check out hismovie reviewsas well. Our thanks for the great (and helpful) review!

Our earlier download problems seem to be fixed *knock on wood*…

We think the download problems are now resolved, and you should once again be able to download and listen to all of our shows to your heart’s content. Thanks for bearing with us over the last day while we got things sorted out, and special thanks to the people over at Podcast Pickle who helped us diagnose the issue properly! We’ll have Episode 10 of Upon Further Review out very soon.

Audio is for everyone…

Hey all,

Continuing to prove that it is the best podcasting program on the Internet, Podpress has now added (in conjunction with Mobatalk, formerly MyChingo) an audio comment feature–so that now you can leave audio comments on our site, if you’re not interested in leaving a voice mail. Check out the audio comment we left for this post to demonstrate how it all works. We’re trying to make our site and show as accessible as we can, and we hope you all take advantage of this (and all the other ways to contact us) to let us know how we’re doing. Thanks as always for all of your support, and we’ll see you for tomorrow’s show!
