Episode 12 of Upon Further Review!

We’ve hit an even dozen shows this week, and to celebrate we’re adding an extra glazed donut (okay, actually just another mini-review) in Episode 12 of Upon Further Review! In this episode we do a quick mini-review of/shout-out to (we’ll figure out what we want to call these short reviews soon) B&H Photo Video, then thank Steve from Wicked Good Podcast and Spartacus from the Spartacus Roosevelt podcast for their E-mails before moving on to the full reviews: first, we get wired with our review of Starbucks; second, we spend some time with the Piano Man in our review of Billy Joel’s new 12 Gardens concert album; and finally, we play the odds with our review of the podcast(s) from the sports betting site NBX.com. As always, thanks so much for your continued support–please get in contact with us, spread the word about the show, and keep sending us those opinions (as you know, such things are always welcome with us)! (As usual, podsafe intro music is provided by Sharif (“You’re My Girl”), outro by David Henderson (“We Gotta Go”).)

Episode 11 of Upon Further Review!

Our first ten shows in the books, we move on to the next ten starting this week with Episode 11 of Upon Further Review! In this episode we send a shout out to Tim for his kind review of us in Podcast Reviews before moving on to the show proper: first, we hang out with some guy named Craig as we review the seventh most popular site on the entire Internet, Craigslist; second, we spend some time in Sweden with our review of the superstore Ikea; and finally, we enter the realm of “music you’ve never heard of but maybe should have” as we examine the Spartacus Roosevelt podcast. As always, we want to thank you for your continued support of the show–our download numbers continue to grow, and we’re excited about the future. Don’t forget to submit your comments, questions, feedback and so on via any of our contact methods, and thanks for listening! (As usual, podsafe intro music is provided by Sharif (“You’re My Girl”), outro by David Henderson (“We Gotta Go”).)

Episode 10 of Upon Further Review!

We’ve reached an even ten shows of Upon Further Review, and in Episode 10 we celebrate in style! With the help of our guest reviewer Russ we take a look at the worlds of movies, tv shows and podcasts in this episode: first, we journey to the sci fi/fantasy world of Final Fantasy with a look at the movie Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children; second, we head to the Wild West as we check in on the lawless world of HBO’s Deadwood; finally, we boldly go where no reviewer has gone before in our review of the Love Long And Prosper podcast. (We also want to apologize in advance for the subpar quality of the audio in this show, the result of a failed experiment with Teamspeak–we’ve learned from our mistake now (we hope!), and it shouldn’t happen again.) As always, welcome to new listeners and thanks to the continuing ones–we hope the next ten shows are as fun as the first ones have been! (As usual, podsafe intro music is provided by Sharif (“You’re My Girl”), outro by David Henderson (“We Gotta Go”).)

Episode 9 of Upon Further Review!

Okay, okay, so we’re a bit late with Episode 9 of Upon Further Review too…but now that we’re finally settled in to Eagle Studios, things should be much smoother from here on out (including the air conditioner which will no longer be on during recording…sigh.) In this episode we send a shout out to Steve from The Wicked Good Podcast as he weighs in on the EB Games controversy before welcoming our guest reviewer Cathryn, who helps us review our two items for the week: first, we leap tall buildings in a single bound with our review of Superman Returns; second, we brush up on our grammar skills as we review the Grammar Girl’s Quick and Dirty Tips for Better Writing podcast. Thanks for your continued support–please continue to submit things you’d like us to review, and keep those comments, E-mails, and phone calls coming…and don’t forget to spread the word about the show! (As usual, podsafe intro music is provided by Sharif (“You’re My Girl”), outro by David Henderson (“We Gotta Go”).)

Episode 8 of Upon Further Review!

We’re a bit late this week with Episode 8 of Upon Further Review, but we just moved…and we’re hot and tired from the experience, not to mention a bit perturbed with those who did (or didn’t) help us along the way! In this episode we thank those who got in contact with us this past week before moving on to address the three “S”s: first, we look at The Salvation Army and ask how difficult they really want to make it to be, well, charitable (Goodwill, Housing Works and the Institute of Jewish Humanities get a few knocks as well); second, we examine the finer points of mistreating your workforce as we review Sears (we take a passing glance at PC Richard & Son while we’re at it); and finally, we blow it all up with our review of the Smart Bomb Radio podcast. As always, we appreciate your spreading the word about the show, contacting us with comments, opinions, and things you’d like us to review, and generally just being the nice listeners you all are! (As usual, podsafe intro music is provided by Sharif (“You’re My Girl”), outro by David Henderson (“We Gotta Go”).)

Episode 7 of Upon Further Review!

Once again we’re back with Episode 7 of Upon Further Review, the hottest review show on the Internet (we love using vaguely positive terms like “hottest”)! In this episode we thank listeners for their feedback (and encourage more) before moving on to the show proper: first, we look at Greg’s old stomping ground of EB Games and wonder aloud how close it’s gotten to being a used car dealership (and whether we can get zero percent financing on a Playstation 3 when it comes out…); second, we tackle our first book review, as we turn the pages of Caleb Carr’s turn of the century thriller The Alienist; and finally, we hang out with two chicks at a sports bar (sort of) as we check out the Fantoo Girls podcast. Please continue to spread the word about the show, contact us in any of the ways listed at our website, and most of all feel good about yourselves for being listeners of UFR! Also, please help us out by Digging this review at Digg.com. (As always, podsafe intro music is provided by Sharif (“You’re My Girl”), outro by David Henderson (“We Gotta Go”).)

Episode 6 of Upon Further Review!

Well, it’s that time again as we’re here with Episode 6 of the extravaganza we call Upon Further Review! In this show we send a shout out to friends near and far (from the Worcester locale of The Wicked Good Podcast to the far flung regions of Trinidad and Tobago!) and explain our review policy (i.e., they aren’t always going to be glowing!) before addressing our usual smorgasbord of items for review: first, we examine that Internet phenomenon known only as MySpace and ask if it’s really all it’s cracked up to be; second, in the spirit of the season we look at the CamelBak water bottle and wonder if staying hydrated on those long summer hikes is worth potentially supporting the military-industrial complex (yes, we thought it was confusing too); and finally, we get our stopwatches working as we review the One Minute How-To podcast. Please continue to give us your comments, your voice messages, and your general feedback (don’t forget to add yourself to our Frappr map), and please know how grateful we are for your continued support…and spread the word about the show! (As always, podsafe intro music is provided by Sharif (“You’re My Girl”), outro by David Henderson (“We Gotta Go”).)

Episode 5 of Upon Further Review!

Here we are again with reviews of all things…er…reviewable, as we proudly present Episode 5 of Upon Further Review. In this episode we talk about Podshow+ (and let them off with a good stern talking-to…turns out that Adam Curry really isn’t that bad a guy) and the new Pirates of the Caribbean movie (which Clea saw without Greg…not that he’s bitter or anything) before moving on to review three more very different things: first, we talk cutting and sewing with our review of Project Runway; second, we get up on our high horse (which we clearly would have adopted, not bought from a pet store!) as we review North Shore Animal League (see picture below for the reason we decided to review an animal shelter!); and finally, we take a look at how a divorced couple in Utah rolls with our review of the podcast Choose The Left Xx’s. Please remember to leave a comment, E-mail or call us, and add yourself to the Frappr map, and please spread the word about the show! And if you have anything you would like us to review, please let us know about that too. Thanks for listening and for your continued support! (As always, podsafe intro music is provided by Sharif (“You’re My Girl”), outro by David Henderson (“We Gotta Go”).)

Episode 4 of Upon Further Review!

We couldn’t think of any better way to celebrate the 4th of July than with our fourth episode–and so here we are (one day later) with Episode 4 of Upon Further Review. In this show we discuss a listener’s theory about gender and the new X-Men film (we told you we like opinions, even those we didn’t develop ourselves!) before getting all patriotic as we review Yankee Stadium (the fact that Greg is a Red Sox fan has no impact whatsoever on his objectivity–and besides, Clea can keep him in line); second, we talk tech as Clea vents her frustrations at Hewlett Packard’s “customer service”; and finally, we wrap up with a podcast review, as The Wilflipson Show gives us prank calls to Chinese restaurants, sketches with Mike Tyson as painting instructor, and some funky music. Please leave a comment, E-mail us, call our voice mail, and add yourself to the Frappr map–and please continue to spread the word about us. We are thankful for your continued support. (Additional podsafe music in this episode is provided by Bob Bundin and Lou Stallman; as always, intro music is provided by Sharif (“You’re My Girl”), outro by David Henderson (“We Gotta Go”).)

Everybody needs a promo sometimes…

Yep, we’ve put together our first true promo! Please check it out, send it to friends who are still reluctant to take the plunge with Upon Further Review, play it loudly during your lunch break at work while laughing hysterically…you know, anything you’d feel comfortable doing normally. :) But seriously, let us know what you think! (Podsafe music provided in this promo by James Underberg (“The Battle”).)
