Episode 51 of Upon Further Review!

This week we deal with gnomes, Grendel, and green creatures from outer space (sort of) in Episode 51 of Upon Further Review! In this episode we thank our listeners and well-wishers before getting into the show: first, we fire up Flamingo Montoya and other garden-protecting gadgets as we review the new computer game (submitted by listener/co-programmer Mike) Garden Defense; second, we wonder openly when Grendel’s mother got so attractive as we review the movie Beowulf; and finally, we blast off for dimensions unknown with our review of the Dick Dynamo podcast. As always, we appreciate your ideas and comments…and as always, we appreciate your spreading the word about the show!     Thanks for the great review, guys! I’m actually not a programmer, but an artist. :) All those bugs, gadgets, plants, etc, I made! Check out my website (link in my name) for more art samples if you’d like. I did work on Tomb Raider at the company I worked for before moving to Seattle last summer. I do agree about iWin’s game delivery system, although they do guarantee a spam and virus free experience. I’m glad you two liked it! We had a lot of fun making it too. :)

    Ahhhh, cool. That art was a big part of the game, actually…contributed to the particular feel that we liked. We hope the game is selling well–it’s definitely well put together! (And Greg still thinks Flamingo Montoya is great, both in the game and just generally. :) )

    I enjoyed the show!
    I tried using the site, but yeah, it does have a very “virus” look to it.

    My friend went to see Beowulf in IMAX. He felt there was a lot of scenery eye candy that will only be appreciated by IMAX viewers, but everyone else would just be bored.

    Good to see that the curve is still rising after 50 shows! Awesome episode!! I like the idea o f Graden Defense a lot, and can’t wait to check it out. Beowulf, on the other hand, doesn’t sound too interesting, but I really appreciate you guys reviewing it (sounds like a waste of perfectly good tech to me). Does make me want to read the ‘book’ (poem?), though, so thanks for continuing to enlighten us to literature! See you on 52!
