Episode 32 of Upon Further Review!

The Super Bowl has come and gone, but we’re here to get you through those lonely winter nights with Upon Further Review! In Episode 32 we send a few shout-outs before getting into the show proper: first, we look at the aforementioned sports and media spectacle of the Super Bowl; second, we review the enigmatic but talented (but did we say enigmatic?) musician Prince; and finally, we gaze into the heart of a nation with our review of the podcast Extruding America. As always, we appreciate your thoughts, ideas and opinions…and ask that you please tell everyone you can about the show! The bigger the conversation, the more fun the discussion, we always say… (As usual, podsafe intro music is provided by Sharif (“You’re My Girl”), outro by David Henderson (“We Gotta Go”).)

NO comments?! NO COMMENTS?! Come ON! This is not only a great episode, but such rich topics!

Prince singing Purple Rain in the rain (“modern era Superbowl rain,” that is :-) was too cool.

And I agree that the superbowl commercials generally sucked. But all tv commercials have really gone downhill in the last few years. Not sure if its a function of post-9/11 America or just the break-up of the market among tv, internet and other alternative methods of media, but it’s too bad that the national companies are so weak in their advertising production.

some of the best commercials i’ve seen are for our regional cable provider, comcast. if you want to see some great ones, go to the ‘boards screening room’ (boardsmag .com/screeningroom)and search for ‘comcast’. they’ve got a series of commercials with children as office workers that are hilarious.

great show, even if no one else is up for discussing it. see you on 33!

We’ll have to check that out. Our new favorite is an NFL commercial where a bunch of guys are sitting around watching an interview with a football player and one of the guys is predicting every answer the player gives…freaking out the rest of the room. Funny stuff.

yes, if there are any good commercials out there, they still seem to focus on/play during sports. hope you enjoy the boards screening room! it’s got lots of great stuff!
