Part Two of Upon Further Review In Norway!

As promised, the second part of our film Upon Further Review In Norway has just been posted!  In this concluding section of the movie, we tackle trains, fjords, harbors, and salmon (not necessarily in that order) and give our final ratings of the country of Norway, adding our usual blend of humor and silliness (SERIOUS silliness!) along the way.  We will post a full version of the movie next week (as we return to our normal audio format) and, if there is any interest, announce how you can get the full length DVD quality film for yourselves and your loved ones (and your hated ones if you want, though we hope there aren’t many of those…).  As always, we appreciate your feedback, ideas and suggestions…and please continue to spread the word about the show!

Upon Further Review In Norway–Our First Video Has Arrived, Part One!

Well, we promised you something special after our trip, and we hope we’ve delivered with this, the first full-length film from Upon Further Review! In this episode you’ll both see and hear our experiences with the fjords, food, cities and people of Norway. Watch glaciers and high-speed ferries collide (no, not literally!) as we explore the fascinating Scandinavian land of Viking myth and legend–and, as you might expect, we’ll have a few ratings to dole out as well. Because of the length of the film, we’ve split it into two parts; we’ve posted Part One here, and will post Part Two here next week. After that we’ll post the full length video onsite, and may even make the full-length DVD available if people are interested in it. Either way, as always we’re grateful for feedback, ideas, and of course your continued listenership–and we hope you’ll continue to spread the word about the show!

Episode 40 of Upon Further Review!

This week we look at crime, games, and emerald cities, pretty much in that order, in Episode 40 of Upon Further Review!  In this episode we say hello to new and old listeners before moving on to the heart of the show: first, we look at the second longest running show in television history with our review of Law and Order; second, we ready sword and shield as we give our impressions of the Nintendo Wii game The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess; and finally, we look into the finer points of coffee, fish markets and computer companies as we review the city of Seattle.  As always, we appreciate your thoughts, ideas and opinions, and as you all know, the more you tell others about the show the more we like it!  (As usual, podsafe intro music is provided by Sharif (“You’re My Girl”), outro by David Henderson (“We Gotta Go”).)

Episode 39 of Upon Further Review!

Once again we’re here with our usual combination of opinions and original ideas in Episode 39 of Upon Further Review! In this episode we’re joined by former guest reviewer and star of The Mep Report Russ, who (after we welcome the feedback from new listeners) helps us break down three items: first, we try not to bite off more than we can chew with our review of chewing gum; second, we step up to the plate with our examination of that most venerable of sports, baseball; and finally, we look at the mixed career of a consumer advocate and politician as we review Ralph Nader. As always, we welcome your feedback and review suggestions–and as always, we’re grateful every time you spread the word about the show to your friends and family! (As usual, podsafe intro music is provided by Sharif (“You’re My Girl”); the outro this week, though, is brought to us courtesy of Edward Meeker…and you may have heard of the tune before!)

Episode 38 of Upon Further Review!

We’re back with another heaping helping of ideas, information and interesting items (okay, we’ll lay off of the alliteration now) in Episode 38 of Upon Further Review!  In this episode we thank our listeners, particularly our new friends from Sluggy Freelance and elsewhere, before moving on to the main event:  first, we look at the life and legacy of the late Kurt Vonnegut; second, wii get moving (literally) with our review of the Nintendo Wii; and finally, we listen and learn as we take a look at the How-To Girl vidcast.

Finally, we conclude the show with exactly 33 seconds of silence, one second for every person lost in the Virginia Tech shootings.  Our hearts go out to all those affected by this awful tragedy, and we hope you will all find the peace which can only come with time and patience.  (Podsafe intro music provided by Sharif (“You’re My Girl”).)

Episode 37 of Upon Further Review!

Easter’s on the way, and just like the Easter Bunny himself we’re here with our usual basket (of, er, reviews) in Episode 37 of Upon Further Review!  In this episode we thank some listeners for their feedback and contributions before getting into the meat of the show:  first, we get a little crazy with our review of March Madness, the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament; second, we return to Victorian London as we look at the Theatre for a New Audience’s production of Oliver Twist (and this isn’t the one you remember from the movies!); and finally, we take on a review request from a new fan with our foray into the world of web comics, Sluggy Freelance style.  As always, we appreciate your ideas, opinions and review suggestions…and of course, we hope you’ll tell friends where they can find a place to contribute the same sorts of things (hint–the initials are UFR)!   (As usual, podsafe intro music is provided by Sharif (“You’re My Girl”), outro by David Henderson (“We Gotta Go”).)

Episode 36 of Upon Further Review!

We’re back to review the world, one item at a time, in Episode 36 of Upon Further Review! In this episode we address more comments about our American Idol episode (who knew so many people felt the same way we did?) before moving on to the show proper: first, we tackle a review request from an enterprising college student about one of the most powerful and influential forms of music in the past twenty years, rap; second, we look at the outrageously funny (and funnily outrageous) comedian/actor Eddie Izzard; and finally, we satiate our hunger for football in the offseason (sort of) with our review of the One For The Thumb podcast. As always, we appreciate your evergrowing involvement in the site and with our show, and encourage you to keep the good vibrations going–there’s so much more out there to review, right?–by telling your friends, neighbors, and close and distant relations about UFR! (“Commodore 64” song is provided by Euphrates (a really cool guy–you can also check him out here) via Julien and the In Over Your Head podcast; as usual, podsafe intro music is provided by Sharif (“You’re My Girl”), outro by David Henderson (“We Gotta Go”).)

Episode 35 of Upon Further Review!

We’re back with opinions and entertainment–and just in time for St. Patrick’s Day–in Episode 35 of Upon Further Review! In this episode we thank our listeners both old and new for comments and E-mails before heading into the main portion of the show: first, we get things fizzed up with our review of fountain drinks and soda pop (thanks to AJ for the request); second, we hope to avoid skating on thin ice with our review of the sport of hockey; and finally, we try to keep a low profile with our review of the Ask A Ninja vidcast. As always, we appreciate your review requests, ideas, and support–and as always, we ask that you keep listening and spread the word! (As usual, podsafe intro music is provided by Sharif (“You’re My Girl”), outro by David Henderson (“We Gotta Go”).)

Episode 34 of Upon Further Review!

We’re back with more opinions than Simon Cowell (hopefully delivered a lot more nicely!) in Episode 34 of Upon Further Review!  In this episode we launch right into the show with our usual three course fare: first, we look at the ratings phenomenon called American Idol and try to figure out what they’re doing right (and wrong); second, we, er, “dial up” the technology heat with our review of the T-Mobile MDA cell phone (and discuss how good or bad cell phones are in general while we’re at it); and finally, we read the news today, oh boy (apologies to The Beatles!) with our review of the Mostly News podcast.  We conclude by reminding everyone that this is Eating Disorders Awareness Week and asking listeners near and far to love their bodies for what they are, not for what movies or magazines would like them to be.  As always, we’re grateful for your continued support and contributions…and ask that you continue to spread the word about the show!  (As usual, podsafe intro music is provided by Sharif (“You’re My Girl”), outro by David Henderson (“We Gotta Go”).)

Episode 33 of Upon Further Review!

Love is in the air with our Valentine’s Day edition of Upon Further Review!  In Episode 33 we discuss why 1 might be the loneliest number (in a way) as we examine three aspects of romance:  first, we look at Valentine’s Day and what makes it the most loved (and hated) holiday of them all; second, we examine the culinary parts of affection with our review of the Water’s Edge and Madison Bistro restaurants; and finally, we check out how romantic a silent movie can be with our take on That Old Silent Film.  As always, we appreciate the love from all of you…and ask that you spread it around by telling others about the show!  (As usual, podsafe intro music is provided by Sharif (“You’re My Girl”), outro by David Henderson (“We Gotta Go”).)
