Episode 68 of Upon Further Review!

We’re back with a new show about con men and politicians (we know, who’s ever made that connection before?) in Episode 68 of Upon Further Review!  In this show we get right down to business with our review of the new hit cable series Leverage before turning things over to part two of our interview with author and activist Minister Faust, started in the last episode.  As always, we welcome your feedback, suggestions for things to review and support–and as always, we appreciate your willingness to spread the word about the show! (As usual, podsafe intro music is provided by Sharif (“You’re My Girl”), outro by David Henderson (“We Gotta Go”).)

Episode 67 of Upon Further Review!

We’re back after a winter layoff with a show about psychology, pseudonyms and superheroes–not necessarily in that order–in Episode 67 of Upon Further Review!  In this episode we thank our loyal listeners (and mention a milestone) before getting into the heart of the show: in the first half we review From the Notebooks of Dr. Brain, a satirical self-help book for superheroes, and in the second play the first part of our interview with the author of the book, Minister Faust.  The interview is wide-ranging (we’ll release the next part in a couple of weeks) and certainly provocative, not to say controversial, and we suspect you’ll be as intrigued by it as we were.  As always, we appreciate your continued dedication to the show, and as always, we’re grateful for your efforts in spreading the word!  (As usual, podsafe intro music is provided by Sharif (“You’re My Girl”), outro by David Henderson (“We Gotta Go”).)

Episode 66 of Upon Further Review!

We’re back once again with a New Year’s resolution to bring you more opinions, ideas and entertainment–and we’re starting with a bang in Episode 66 of Upon Further Review!  In this episode we talk some technical matters before getting down to the meat of the show: first, we look at the half-filled glass of water in a different way with our review of Ode Magazine; second, we take up arms against a sea of, er, orcs as we look at the World of Warcraft video game; and finally, we toast the departing of the old year and arrival of the new with our take on the New Year’s holiday.  As always, we appreciate your continued listening to the show, and as always, we’re grateful for your willingness to spread the word!  (As usual, podsafe intro music is provided by Sharif (”You’re My Girl”), outro by David Henderson (”We Gotta Go”).)

Episode 65 of Upon Further Review!

We’re back with a different kind of show in Episode 65 of Upon Further Review!  In this episode we interview Dr. Wayne Cristaudo, professor and author of the book Power, Love and Evil: Contribution to a Philosophy of the Damaged, which we reviewed in our last show.  Dr. Cristaudo had some clarifications he wanted to make, and so we decided to do this interview, which turned out to be a wide-ranging discussion on love, evil, damage, and morality (and its problems).  It’s not our standard format, which we’ll return to in our next episode, but we think you’ll find it interesting, and we look forward to hearing your feedback.  As always, we appreciate your ideas and opinions, and as always, we really appreciate it when you spread the word about the show!  (As usual, podsafe intro music is provided by Sharif (”You’re My Girl”), outro by David Henderson (”We Gotta Go”).)

Episode 64 of Upon Further Review!

Once again we’ve returned with our usual dose of ideas, thoughts, and wholesome opinions (well, we hope they’re wholesome, anyway!) in Episode 64 of Upon Further Review!  In this episode we thank Chris for setting up our snazzy new Facebook page (you can find the link on our website) before moving on to the show at large: first, we hit from way downtown with our review of basketball; second, we consider the nature of good and evil as we look at the book Power, Love and Evil; and finally, we consider the comic stylings of Hans (but not Frans) as we take a listen to The NotHans Podcast.  As always, we appreciate your ideas and opinions, and as always, we really appreciate it when you spread the word about the show!  (As usual, podsafe intro music is provided by Sharif (“You’re My Girl”), outro by David Henderson (“We Gotta Go”).)

Upon Further Review’s Second MiniReview!

As promised, here is the second of UFR’s minireviews, this one posted by Clea.  In this minireview Clea gets in touch with her inner pregnancy (her past one, of course…we’re plenty busy with our current child, believe us!) as she reviews the movie from SNL superteam Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, Baby Mama.  As before, we’d certainly be happy to receive your feedback and appreciate your support…and as previously mentioned, we’ll have a full show up soon.

Upon Further Review’s First MiniReview!

We’ve been thinking of a way to get shows out more often despite our busy schedule, and finally decided that having minireviews from time to time–in which one of us does a quick five or six minute bare bones take on only one topic–might be a way to tide you fine people over between our full shows.  Accordingly, we’re happy to present our first minireview, posted by Greg from his hotel room in Calgary (where he’s attending the World Fantasy Convention), in which he heads back to the mid fifties (or mid eighties, depending on your point of view) world of Indiana Jones with his review of Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.  Please let us know whether you like this format–and don’t worry, it’s meant to supplement, not replace, our full-length productions!

Episode 63 of Upon Further Review!

We’re back with your antidote to terrible economic news and uncertainty about the state of the world–with a healthy dose of opinions and entertainment in Episode 63 of Upon Further Review!  In this episode we thank our loyal listeners and welcome a, er, “guest star” before moving on to the meat of the show: first, we buy low (or is it sell high?) in our review of the stock market; second, we create a universe (well, basically) as we look at the video game Spore; and finally, we go to the movies with our review of the Scene Unseen podcast.  As always, we appreciate your feedback and suggestions, and as always, we ask that you spread the word about the show!  (As usual, podsafe intro music is provided by Sharif (”You’re My Girl”), outro by David Henderson (”We Gotta Go”).)

Episode 62 of Upon Further Review!

We’re back again with all things games and horror–sometimes even at the same time–in Episode 62 of Upon Further Review!  In this episode we thank everyone for their loyal listening before getting down to the nitty gritty: first, we consider the madness and mayhem that is gaming in our review of the GenCon Convention; second, we consider the madness and mayhem that is board gaming as we look at Arkham Horror; and finally, we consider the madness and mayhem that are zombies (just because they’re, well, zombies!) as we listen in to the One Eighteen: Migration podcast.  As always, we appreciate your continued support for the show, and as always, we ask that you continue to spread the word to others!  (As usual, podsafe intro music is provided by Sharif (“You’re My Girl”), outro by David Henderson (“We Gotta Go”).)

Episode 61 of Upon Further Review!

We’re back with a special show beyond your imagination–at least if you like sci-fi and fantasy even a little bit–in Episode 61 of Upon Further Review!  In this episode we’re honored to feature special guest star James Patrick Kelly, Hugo and Nebula award-winning science fiction author, and during the show we follow Mr. Kelly’s able lead as we discuss podcasting, the state of science fiction and fantasy, and his latest book The Wreck of the Godspeed (officially published the day before the posting of this show).  You all know how we feel about opinions, but here we’re more than happy to defer to Jim–and we think you’ll be as interested as we are in what he has to say.  As always, we appreciate your continued support, and as always, we ask that you continue to spread the word about the show!  (As usual, podsafe intro music is provided by Sharif (“You’re My Girl”), outro by David Henderson (“We Gotta Go”).)
