Episode 29 of Upon Further Review!
After a short hiatus for the holidays and other such realities of daily life, we’re back in Episode 29 of Upon Further Review! In this episode we welcome back Cathryn, star of Episode 9 of UFR, into the guest review spot before plunging into the first show of 2007: first, we ask what kind of sport doesn’t decide its results on the field (and who thought doing so was a good idea?) with our review of the college football Bowl Championship Series; second, we look at the strange merging of anti-Fascism and fantasy in the new movie Pan’s Labyrinth; and finally, we get motivated and hip (at least that’s what we’re told!) in our review of the Hey Josh vidcast. If you liked this, and you like seem to like comic book movies too based on your impassioned X-Men review, you should try Hellboy. The sequel’s coming out in another year too.

Great show, of course!!! Love that Cathryn has a PSP!!! That was my first foray into gaming, and I think it’s a fantastic little machine. I know she’s not too techie (to put it mildly ;-) but, as I’ve said before, the PSP is so feature-packed with the wireless web browser, great music and video player features, and gaming (and, of course, the RSS reader that I use to get my fix of UFR!).
Not much for football, but you both make it very interesting listening, so thanks for that (still building my football prowess through the Madden series of games).
Really like Clea’s summary of Pan’s Labyrinth. I actually think the reality/historical fiction of it sounds interesting, but can see how the premise seems to invite fantasy, but then doesn’t deliver.
Still loving the podcast reviews. Best way to learn what’s out there, how people are doing it, best practices and all…

Hey Chris! Good to hear from you again–the comment flurry is one of my favorite things to see pop up in our mailbox! It’s very odd to think that we’re now almost one third of the way through the 07-08 season now…Pan’s Labyrinth seems to have gotten its just due from critics as well as viewers, so that’s good. And glad you like the podcast reviews…many more of those on the way, of course!
